Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Edwin Hall
My name is Ed Hall. I have taught in Maron County for 21 years. Prior to teaching in Marion County I coached college basketball for 23 years.
My first assignment was at Forest HIgh where I was an SED unit with 4 students. I quickly learned that SED stood for Severely Emotionally Disabled. With my long background with college athletes I was able to interact with these special needs students.
In my second year at Forest I moved into an ESE English 1 classroom. I have continued to work with ESE students in English classes. When the Marion County School district moved to an Inclusion Model, Coach Travieso and I went to Lake Weir HS and studied their format. For the last 14 years I have worked as Case Manager and Inclusion teacher in English classes.
My role is to support teachers and students during their English class. I support the teachers by providing them with the student's IEP and accommodations. I monitor the student's grades throughout the quarter and attempt to be pro-active by contacting parents BEFORE a student gets a bad grade.
In additon to supporting the teacher, I make myself available to the students during their class or by occassionally pulling them out to work one on one with students.
Our approach at VHS is to represent ourselves as Resource teachers who are there to assist any student. We never indicate that we are in the class for any specific student (s).
