    Hi Parents, We are going to begin online instruction tomorrow, April 1st. It is going to be a new adventure for all of us. I will be posting assignments and activities here on DoJo, my class website and using Zoom. I will need to take attendance each day so please stay in touch with me daily with DoJo.

    Weekly Assignments for April 1st - April 3rd

    ELA - Please write at least 2 sentences and illustrate, what you like about distance learning and 2 sentences about what you don't like.

    Please practice reading those 100 words from our kindergarten sight word list that was sent home.

    Math - Count how many windows you have in your house and tell me what shape they are? Make a list of other things that are that shape also.

    Practice counting to 100 by 1's, 5's and 10's. Make the numbers on index cards or a piece of paper and try to put them in order to 100. Send me a picture of your completed job and I will share it with your friends on DoJo.

    Social Studies - Work on leaning your (parents) phone number and your home address. Draw a picture of your house and practice writing the street address under the picture.

    You will need to complete 45 minutes in both Math and Reading for I-Ready. You should all have your sign-ons taped to the inside of your folders. If anyone needs me to send their sign-ons please let me know.

    Please have your child read with an adult for at least 20 minutes a day. If you are reading to the child, please ask them questions about the story when you are finished.
    Who are the characters in the story?
    Where was the setting of the story?
    What was the problem in the story or the main idea?

    Tell me about your favorite story you read this week. Using DoJo you can take pictures or videos of your work. I look forward to hearing from all of you.

    ELA - We are going to use only one story this week.  I would like your child to try really hard and read this story all by themselves.  Please read this story several times (maybe once a day).  I would like for them to try and become fluent with this story.  It is all words that they should be able to sound out or their tricky words.  I am looking to build their confidence that they can read if they apply what they know.

          Please make sure they answer the questions with a complete sentence.  Remind them that    every sentence needs:  1 - capital letter to start, 2- finger space, 3 – ends with a period. 

    Tricky Word Work – pages 199 – 204  Please practice these words with your child.  They should be able to read these words fluently.    Pick 5 of the words and write a sentence using these words. ( write the sentences in your journal.)

    Measurement – We are going to use whatever you have at home to measure with.  It can be pencils, crayons, lego blocks, spoons or whatever you have a lot of.  I need to you measure how tall the following things are: 1 – a table, 2 -a chair, 3 – your bed, 4-book, 5 – you.   Make a list of these 5 things and tell me how tall  or long they are.  Be sure to tell me what you used to measure with.  For example, My bed was 12 pencils long.
