    Description:  In this course, students will learn how to use the computer, learn basic keyboarding skills, learn and demonstrate proper techniques, and increase their speed and accuracy; the goal is 15 words a minute.  Their learned skills and techniques will be incorporated and demonstrated in various cross- curricula computer activities.

     

    Grading Scale:  90-100 A; 80-89   B; 70-79 C; 60-69 D

    Teacher Responsibilities:   Observe students keyboarding techniques, be available to clarify instructions, facilitate student’s self evaluation of documents, encourage students to strive for increased speed and accuracy, provide appropriate software, equipment, and evaluate student outcomes.

                                       

    Student Responsibilities:  Use correct techniques for efficient  operation of the keyboard and to avoid wrist problems, have his/her textbook and disk at all times, utilize their own creativity and strength of others on special projects, evaluate the appearance and accuracy of documents they produce, and communicate with the teacher when having difficulties to avoid wasted time.

     

    Reading Enhancement:  Read silently after completing your assignment;

     

    Students need this class:   Students will learn basic skills that will be valuable to them for the rest of their lives.  This class provides many ways to integrate their academic subjects with skills learned in seven units; namely, Computer Basics, Keyboarding, Word Processing, Desktop Publishing, Spreadsheet, Database, and Communications. These skills will enable the student to be a better student and later, a better worker.

    Description:  In this course, students will prepare for a lifetime of keyboarding success with innovative technology solutions that reflect today’s business leaders’ needs. Students also tap into the latest keyboarding technology, learn to master computer applications, and increase their math, communication, and leadership skills.  Their goal is 25 words a minute.
