Ms. Johnston's Fourth Grade Class
Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 school year!
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year. I will be responsible for teaching mathematics, science, and social studies to your child. Mrs. DeCasper will be teaching language arts as well as the social studies curriculum.
We have a lot of material to cover each day, therefore it is of utmost importance that you child be here as much as possible. Missed days in the classroom equate to missing the lessons taught that day as well. When at all possible please let me know in advance if your child must miss so that I can prepare work in advance and upon the return of your son/daughter they will not have makeup work to complete on top of assignments for that day. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Your student will have computer lab 3 times per week which will serve to enrich and support their learning.. For many of our students this is done to help support the learning and is also closely monitored. Several of the classroom programs are available for home access as well and are an excellent resource for skills practice at home. I will send more information when it comes available to me. Often students fail to understand the benefits of completing classwork. In the event of an absence, please know that I will do whatever I can to accommodate you and your child.
I look forward to a successful year and I know that if each of us does our part to support your child, my student, he/she will have both a successful and rewarding fourth grade year!
Student attendance plays a very important role in your student's success. When a student misses classes, they will miss valuable learning that can not be made up. They will be allowed to make up work in a timely manner if unable to attend school. Please make every effort to have them in class as much as possible.
Be sure to sign you child up for 21st Century after school program! The classes are FREE and are held Monday - Thursday after school from 2:05 - 5:05. Students will receive two snacks as well as a meal. Bus transportation will also be provided. Fun and exciting activities will enrich your child in many subject areas. Homework help will also be available.
Our St. Augustine fields trip is Monday, October 19, 2015. The price to attend is $59.00 per adult admission and $47.00 per student. More information to come.
