Miss Mary Zorich
This will be my 32nd year of teaching. I started out as an elementary teacher where I taught one year in Minnesota. I then moved to Florida where I have taught in Marion County for 30 years. As an elementary teacher, I taught 16 years at Oakcrest Elementary in grades 1, 4, and 5. The next five years were at Ward Highlands Elementary in grades 1, 2, and 3. I then moved to Osceola where this will be my 10th year of teaching middle school mostly in 6th and 7th grade math, although I have also taught 6th grade science. This year I will be teaching 3 blocks of advanced seventh grade math (blocks 4, 5, and 6) and 3 blocks of regular 7th grade math (blocks 1, 2, and 3). People often ask if I preferred elementary or middle school. I tell them in elementary, the students loved you as a teacher, while in middle school - not so much. I enjoy the curriculum in middle school as well as the personalities of the middle school students. I love teaching math!
Family is very important to me. My father and mother live in Minnesota, but are snowbirds from the end of November through the middle of May. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary and still live in the same house from before I was born. My dad was my middle school principal. I am the youngest of 4 children with two sisters, and one brother.
When I leave school, I go home to my two cats, Casper and Baxter. ( I do love all animals however.) I like hiking in the Smokies, Kayaking with the Marion County Parks Department, reading, drawing, and photography of nature.
