My name is Laura Wellhoner. I teach 6th grade Earth and Space Science as well as sponsor the OMS Academic Team. I am a product of Marion County Public Schools and was last year's OMS Teacher of the Year. I live in Ocala with my husband, children, dog, and chickens. This year my oldest son completed private pilot training and begins college at Embry-Riddle University for aerospace engineering. My younger son attends Forest High School and my daughter will begin her middle school adventure here at OMS with us.
I am so very proud to be a part of the Osceola Middle School family and I love working with kids. Your child will take a hands-on approach to science this year. My goal for the year is to guide your child to see that science is both fun and relevant in everyday life.
My passion for science is rooted in a deep love and respect for the natural world. I am continually fascinated with the systems that enable our planet to sustain life as well as the mechanics at work within the universe. It is truly awesome!
Over the course of my teaching career, I have taught US History, Reading, and E/S Science. One of the many things I love about teaching middle school is how enthusiastic about learning your children are! They make every day different and exciting- and they keep me hopping!
I am so excited to be a part of your middle school adventure this year! Let's work together to make it a great one.:)
