Ms. Emily K Parker
Ms. Parker is a veteran teacher in her 24th year in the education field, and her sixth year working for Marion County Public Schools. She holds a bachelor's degree in Pre-K/Primary Education from the University of West Florida, a master's in Exceptional Student Education / Varying Exceptionalities from the University of Central Florida, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership & Administration from National-Louis University. She has experience teaching in every grade level K-12, as well as experience as a reading coach, instructional coach, ESE specialist and assistant principal. She is certified in Pre-K/Primary Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum, ESOL, and Educational Leadership, and she has a Reading Endorsement and a Gifted Endorsement.
Ms. Parker is a single mom with 3 gifted children, 1 in high school, and 2 all grown up! In her second job, Ms. Parker scores written and spoken components of standardized assessments from various states as well as the TOEFL, and has written content for standardized assessments, as well as for Studies Weekly Social Studies and Science editions. She is an animal lover who loves to draw, read, play her flute and piano, work in her yard, and play Rock Band with her family. She loves working with her gifted students and enjoys finding interesting, fun ways to help children learn.
Ms. Parker has high expectations for all students. She believes that every student should be successful with the right attitude and the right support. To that end, she challenges all of her students and their families to devote their best efforts to learning, but to remember - effort is 100 times more important than perfection.
