Ms. Emily K Parker
Ms. Parker is a veteran teacher in her 21st year in the education field, and her fourth year working for Marion County Public Schools. She holds a B.A. in Pre-K/Primary Education from the University of West Florida, a M.A. in Exceptional Student Education / Varying Exceptionalities from the University of Central Florida, and an Ed.S in Educational Leadership & Administration from National-Louis University. She has experience teaching in every grade level K-12, as well as experience as a school administrator. She is certified in Pre-K/Primary Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum, ESOL, and Educational Leadership, and she has a Reading Endorsement. She expects to complete requirements for her gifted endorsement in the 2018-19 school year.
Ms. Parker is a single mom with 3 children, 1 in high school, and 2 all grown up! She's also hosting a bonus child - a foreign exchange student from France, during the 2018-19 school year. In her free time, Ms. Parker scores written and spoken components of standardized assessments from various states as well as college entrance exams. She is an animal lover who loves to draw, read, play her flute and piano, work in her yard, and play Rock Band with her family. She is very excited about exploring the possibilities in FLAME with her students, and enjoys finding interesting, fun ways to help children learn.
Ms. Parker has high expectations for all students. She believes that every student should be successful with the right attitude and the right support. To that end, she challenges all of her students and their families to devote their best efforts to learning. Her classroom rules are as follows:
