COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Dunnellon Middle School Physical Education Program is a
comprehensive and varied schedule of activities with specific goals and
expectations. These student goals and expectations include the cognitive and
physical aspect of sport, fitness, lifetime activities, and health education with
emphasis on sportsmanship to development of emotional and social skills.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
DMS students will:
1. Demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns
needed to perform in a variety of physical activities.
2. Acquire knowledge of how to improve physical conditioning, body
management skills, and strategies to be successful in sport, fitness and
leisure activities.
3. Participate regularly in strength and conditioning exercises to increase
cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength.
4. Exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that demonstrates
respect for self and others in the physical education setting.
5. Value physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self
expression, and/or social interaction.
SUPPLIES (During Covid 19)
- Dress to school prepared for PE class- We will not use the locker room for
dressing out
- Have laced up sneakers with ankle support
- Travel deodorant & Lotions- NO SPRAY
- Wet Wipes, Rags, or Towel- take home and replace daily
- Small Water Bottle
GRADING PLAN
A percentage will be given for each assignment in the 4 Categories below.
Assignment Categories and Weights in Percentages
Participation- frequency of participation and attitude………………………25%

COURSE COMPONENT SPECIFICS
In the event of injury or illness: A parent note will excuse your child for one day from activity. In case of a doctor’s note, the child does not participate until cleared by physician. All students with excuse notes will be required to complete a written assignment during P.E. class time.
CLASSROOM RULES OF CONDUCT
No food, drinks, gum or candy is allowed in the gymnasium. Failure to obey this rule can result in a written referral. No Spray of ANY kind will be allowed. These items will be confiscated. No Cell Phones
