New District-Wide Safety Procedures

  • Effective immediately, all school-sponsored events throughout Marion County Public Schools will add more security measures to keep students and spectators safe.

    These added measures apply to all school facilities including football stadiums, gymnasiums, auditoriums and other congregating areas:

    • Only small bags will be allowed, no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches.

    • All bags will be searched.

    • No backpacks allowed.

    • Hand-held metal detectors may be used.

    • No admission tickets will be sold after halftime.

    • No re-entry.

    • No outside food or beverages allowed.

    • Loitering is prohibited outside of facility gates and doors or in parking lots before, during or after events.

    • Once spectators leave an event, they must leave the venue.

    Anyone attending a school-sponsored event is encouraged to arrive early to be seated on time.

    The mission of Vanguard High School is that Vanguard High School will be a safe, caring center for excellence that meets student and community needs through innovative academic and extracurricular programs, committed parental involvement, and exposure to opportunities for success.



    The school and community are mutually and continually involved in a multitude of projects. With the approval of the International Baccalaureate Organization, Vanguard began its affiliation year in 1996 when it became the 26th high school in Florida and the only school in Marion County offering this prestigious program.

    School Inspection:

    In accordance with E.P.A. regulations, all Marion County Schools have been inspected for asbestos containing materials.  The original inspection along with a diagram of the location(s) and a copy of all re-inspections has been made available in the administrative office at each school for review.
