Curriculum Overview

     Emerald Shores'  faculty and staff are proud to deliver a quality education designed to meet the needs of all students and ensure our students become self-sufficient, responsible citizens. By using the resources available throughout our district, students will be able to continue to grow academically, as demonstrated by data obtained through progress monitoring. Quarterly Standards Mastery Assessments (QSMA's) are utilized to assess mastery of quarterly standards and drive further instruction in the classroom. 

     

    Reading

     The iReady Progress Monitoring Assessment is administered in the area of reading 3 to 4 times per year for 3rd - 5th grade and 2 times for 2nd grade. Teachers use this assessment to identify specific standards in reading that are strengths or weaknesses. 

    Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) is a comprehensice program (Preschool - Grade 5) for teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking while also building students' vocabulary and knowledge across essential domains in literature, world and American history, and the sciences. 

     Emerald Shores also utilizes iReady curriculum tolls to support the Florida standards for on-line instruction. Additional programs consist of SmartyAnts (K-2) and Kid Biz (3-5), which supports informational text. 

     

    Math

Go Math curriculum is also a resource to teach the Florida standards. 

    FasttMath is a computer based individualized learning progression program for every student that builds fluency for math fact mastery. 

    Hands-On Standards is another resource where lessons are targeting clearly stated objectives and goals for focused learning with a hands-on approach with manipulatives.
