    Welcome to 2nd Grade

Parents remember that your student should be reading to you at least 20 minutes per night.  Also, students should master 300 sight words this year.  If your student is struggling with the sight words, split your nightly reading time to where your student is practicing sight words for 10 minutes, and reading to you for another 10 minutes.  These sight words should be found in their student folders.  I already have 7 students who have mastered these words!!!  Great Job!!!  The better your student is at reading, the easier time they will have with their daily work.

    Our Schedule

It is very important that your student arrives on time.  We begin promptly at 7:30 a.m.  Students begin arriving and complete their daily math work.  Next they are on to their independant reading - this is where they are reading their AR books and taking their quiz to check their comprehension.  Students will earn points towards  AR prizes, but most importantly, they are becoming proficient readers.
