    Course Description, Intended Outcomes, and Objectives (8th Grade)

    The purpose of this course is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Health Science career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to exploratory activities relating to all health occupational clusters. The course also includes an introduction to medical ethics, consumerism, and characteristics of health care workers, community health agencies and basic computer literacy. Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials and technology appropriate to the course content and in accordance with current practices. The purpose of this course is to give students initial exposure to the skills and attitudes associated with a broad range of occupations relating to careers in health, including job requirements and tasks performed, to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals.

    The purpose of this course is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Health Science career cluster. Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials and technology appropriate to the course content and in accordance with current practices. The content includes but is not limited to basic information about the kinds of jobs and workers involved in various career paths, financial rewards, occupational hazards, and educational requirements.

    The purpose of this course is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Health Science career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to a broad overview of the Health Science career cluster, including terminology, careers, history, required skills, and technologies associated with each pathway in the Health Science career cluster. The purpose of this course is to give students initial exposure to the skills and attitudes associated with a broad range of occupations relating to careers in health, including job requirements and tasks performed, to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals.

     

    Procedure

    If your child is absent he/she is responsible to see me about any make-up work. If it is possible to complete the work at home, he/she will be allowed to do so. All assigned Homework/Projects are due when assigned. Late work will be accepted up to 3 days with a penalty of 1 letter grade for each day late. Absent students will have 1 day to make up work for each day of absence without a penalty.

    The students need their Panther Planner and BMS PAWS Binders every day. The binders should be kept neat, organized, in good shape, and follow the school rules about appearance. Please replenish your child school supplies, such as notebook paper, pencils, colored pencils, etc. Donations of Kleenex and glue sticks are always appreciated.

    All students are expected to follow the classroom rules and procedures. These will be given to the students in their notes and posted in the classroom. We make every attempt to create a positive learning environment for all of our students. We expect students to conduct themselves in a kind and thoughtful manner at all times. Poor conduct will not be tolerated, and will result in the following discipline procedure:

     1st Offense                                   Verbal Warning

    2nd Offense                                  Parent Contact (Note, Email, or Phone Call)

    3rd Offense                                  Teacher Detention – as offered by BMS as a consequence

    4th Offense                                  Discipline Referral

    *Extreme behavior results in instant referral.

     Final Exam

    All students will be taking TEST at the end of the semester. Students will be provided a copy of a study guide.
