Welcome Letter

Dear parents and students,

Welcome to sixth grade language arts! I am looking forward to a great year. This is my seventh year at Dunnellon Middle School and I am certified in Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum, K-6, and ESOL. I wanted to let you know a few ways we can all work together to ensure each student succeeds in language arts.
Students will be issued a planner which they will be required to bring to class daily and write down their assignments. The items I require for my class are:
notebook paper, pencils or erasable pens in blue or black, a 3 hole folder with pockets to keep in binder or backpack, and a composition book (not a spiral notebook).
Parents can communicate with me in several ways. You can reach me by phone before and after school by calling the main DMS number 465-6720. You can email me at Audrey.Osborne@marion.k12.fl.us. If you need to schedule a parent-teacher conference please call the guidance office to make an appointment.
Current and past assignments can be viewed on my website which is listed on the DMS webpage (http://www.marion.k12.fl.us/schools/dms) under the faculty list. Students who are absent are responsible to turn in assignments they missed. Homework assignments are usually just reading library books. I require a book report form to be filled out once a book is completed.  I take my classes to the media center about twice a month to check out books. The library is also usually open before school for students to check out books.  Students and parents can check on grades in Skyward Family and Student Access on the Marion County Public Schools website.
I hope I have given you some useful information to get the school year started. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
