~It is IMPERATIVE that you log on to the student portal and access your online book, before the end of the first week of school. Therefore, if you cannot access the online English textbook or portal, you need to see Mrs. Brewer in guidance. You will not be allowed to check out classroom copies as we use them almost daily.
- One of the standards covered in English is speaking. Therefore, you will be asked throughout the year to read aloud.
- PARTNERS. Partner work is a privilege and not a right. In order to earn that privilege, you must demonstrate that you are actively engaged in the discussions, the work of literature we are reading, and genuinely paying attention. Sleeping is NOT considered actively engaged OR paying attention; a call home will be made.
Welcome to English III. This year we will be focusing on various types of literature through the use of listening, speaking, writing, and reading. Throughout the year, there will be certain projects required by the county, or myself for students to perform. Individual and group work is utilized in my classroom.
This year we will be focusing on American Literature. Students will start to analyze the meaning of symbols in the literature and compare that to the time period to fully gain meaning of the works that we are reading. There will also be a culminating research paper at the end of the year where students will analyze a work through a given topic.
