Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Mary Blanchette
I had the good fortune to grow up in the Panama Canal Zone in a little town called Coco Solo located on the Atlantic Ocean. This is where my love of nature and science began. After graduating from Cristobal High School and Canal Zone College I decide to brave the snow and attended Colorado State University. I graduated with a BS in Horticulture and returned to Panama to escape the frozen tundra of Colorado! There I had a lot of interesting jobs. I worked in an entomology lab then moved up to be an Environmental Health Inspector. One of my responsibilities in this job was to control the newly arrived African Bees! Panama is where I met and married my husband. It is also where I began substitute teaching in my old high school. When we move to Florida in 1992 I went back to school to obtain my Elementary Education degree. After three years of teaching I successfully went through the National Board Certification process. We moved to Dunnellon in 2006 right across the street from school so I can jump in the beautiful Rainbow River every day!
The most important thing I would like you to know about me is that I absolutely love to teach. I believe every child is unique and they all have a special genius they can develop and share with the world.
