Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Lisa Corneilson

I have taught Deaf and Hard of Hearing students for 35 years and I have had the amazing opportunity to teach the three to five-year-old D/HH preschool children at South Ocala Elementary for the last 32 years. Last year we added the name "Communication Classroom" to my class description and this year will be "year 2" of this program.  These early years of a child's life are the most critical for brain development and in these few short years that children are in early childhood settings, they need to develop a strong foundation in social skills and language skills.  My class is all about language devleopment while making sure each child has the best experiences to grow in all areas of development, and I love it.   I started my career at the Florida School for the Deaf in St. Augustine and moved to Ocala in 1986.  I have been teaching Pre-K Deaf and Hard of hearing children at South Ocala since the 1988-1989 school year.  I even have "Grand-students!"   I have the best job in the world!  My name sign is a finger-spelled "C" near your eye and shake it and the children call me "Miss C."

Meet your Paraprofessional

My name is Cathy Kuhl and I have been a paraprofessional for 17 years in the Pre-K Deaf/Hard of Hearing class.  I love working with students and helping them grow.  I look forward to working with your child this year.  The children call me “Cathy” in the classroom and my name sign is the finger-spelled “C” “K” over your heart.
