Participation in Sports

Home School, Florida Virtual, Charter School (or other Non-Traditional Students)
As defined per FHSAA Handbook:
1.4.32 Non-Traditional Student – Non-Traditional Students are students who are not enrolled in and physically attend the school at which they participate, including, but not limited to; Home Education students, certain Charter School students, Special School students, certain Non-Member Private School students and students enrolled in FLVS-FT Public Program.
All Non-Traditional Students wishing to participate in any athletic program at a Marion County Public Middle or High School must be assigned to the respective school by the MCPS Student Assignment Office (located at District East – 1614 E. Fort King Street, Ocala, FL 34470).
Once assigned to a school, all students must “register” at their assigned school and provide any required information/documentation as required of all students at the school.
If non-traditional students wish to participate in sports the parents must notify the notify school administration in writing (or register) BEFORE the first day of practice for that sport in order to be eligible to participate in that sport. All FHSAA paperwork and eligibility requirements must also be completed before the students can begin any activities associated with that team.
