  • Dear Parents and Students,

As we embark on our first experience with online teaching this school year, I am excited to be going through this with all of you !!! I hope that we will all enjoy learning new technology skills, for this new adventure in education. I hope each of you will feel rewarded and accomplished experiencing a more self-guided academic experience. With this in mind, I am available through email at victoria.montigny@marion.k12.fl.us and through Google Voice at (352)-462-3109  each school day from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m and 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. , if you are in need of any help. Additionally, this weeks assignments are located on Google Classroom. I emailed each parent my Google Classroom code to get started on April 1, 2020. I will miss our on campus instruction, but I am looking forward to continuing our year together.

Let's get started. I have uploaded this week's FSA Daily Practice and Kickstart to continue to improve your math skills. These can be printed at home. I only want you to complete one day at a time to get back into our routine. As our year ahead may feel a little unsure, let's continue making this school year a year full of rewards and acomplishments to become the best mathematicians you can be, so work each day on your math standards.

This new journey should include making a space in your home or bedroom set aside to concentrate, a schedule for learning and a place for your learning materials ex: pencils, no erasers,  colored markers, dry erase markers and white boards.  In addition, parents you may find that using a timer will help yur child stay focused on each subject or task. Remember, learning is an active activity and should resemble thinking and energy.

In addition, you need to continue your IXL third grade skills. This software program can be challenging at times, so read the TUTORIAL for comprehension !!! This software program is the way in which you will receive repeated practice of the third grade math standards with a built in tutorial to aid mastery for each skill. This week April 1st through April 3rd, work on any  U's and T's and earn at least one medal. Then, if you want to work on your G's and any other multiplication skill in which you have not received at least one medal. These skills assigned this week are to reinforce skills you have learned and allow for independent practice, so each of you will build confidence and endurance to become successful, on all the third grade milestones. For those of you who have moved further along with IXL and this week's skills are completed, you have the choice to pick one  math skill a day that you have not earned a medal to work on. If this pertains to you, keep track of your chosen skills in your planner.

I look forward to our class discussions again, but I need each of you to take this at-home learning opportunity serious and take time for learning everyday, so you can be the best mathematician you can be. I want each of you to be on the Mission Space Specialist Team.

There is still so much to learn and be excited about this school year; and I am excited to be on this journey with you !!
