Welcome to Mrs. Kelsey's Kindergarten Website!
Welcome Mrs. Kelsey's All-Stars!
I am very excited to go back into the classroom and start the year face-to-face! This year our school theme is Back in the Swing of Things and our class is Mrs. Kelsey's All-Stars. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful assistant, Ms. K and we are both looking forward to meeting our All-Stars.
School begins August 24th; however, the first three days of school are designated Stagger Start for kindergarten. Your child will only come one of these three days. This will allow me to get to know your child a little better and for the students to be more comfortable in their new classroom environment. All the students will come on Thursday, August 27th and will be expected to attend ever day thereafter.
I hope you will be able to attend one of the two offered Zoom sessions for Meet the Teacher. I will do my best to answer your many questions. In addition to the questionnaire, during Meet the Teacher, please be sure to let me know how your child will be going home the first week of school. If this changes, please let me know in writing. One of this year's FAQ is, "How will my child get to class?". Faculty and staff will be on route throughout the campus to direct your child to their classroom. Therefore, it is imperative that your child wears his or her lanyard that was given in the packet. It will be a big help in assisting your child. I suggest sending in a few of your child's supplies to reduce the weight of their backpack. Students are also welcome to bring in a favorite snack, a towel to sit on, and a labeled refillable water bottle.
Here’s a list of just a few of the things your child can look forward to in kindergarten at Dr. N. H. Jones:
*making new friends *listening to a variety of stories
*learning and using technology *designing projects with STEAM
*learning and using numbers *working in centers
*hands-on science experiments *writing in journals
*creating works of art *becoming an independent reader
My goal this year is to work extremely hard to establish our classroom as a happy, healthy, challenging, comforting, safe learning environment where students can achieve their personal best.
