At Lake Weir High School our vision is for students, staff, parents and the community to work together in developing high-achieving, confident, life-long learners and responsible citizens.
Our mission is to motivate students and teachers to strive for excellence in academics, where habits of lifelong learning are developed, where responsibility and caring for each other and the environment are fostered, where social and emotional growth is nurtured, and where cooperation among all members of the school community helps prepare students to meet life's challenges.
In addition to the programs that have been put in place to help students achieve and become the best they can be, Lake Weir High, under the direction of Principal Cynthia Saunders, began the accreditation process for becoming an International Baccalaureate school in the 2007-2008 school year.
We have received our official authorization and Lake Weir is part of the IB World Community. We began offering the IB Diploma Programme classes in the fall of 2010, and our first IB class graduated in 2012.
