8:30 - Read a Book This week one of our stories is: My Book About Community Helpers (mini book)After reading the story discuss the problem/events/what? Who? Where? Each day you may reread, review, recall and finally retell the story to a friend or family member.
9:00 - Craft activity: Today, You may begin this activity by helping your child cut an apple into small pieces. Count the apple pieces and put them in groups of 10. Add cinnamon, yogurt, raisins, peanut butter, or other selected toppings for a healthy snack. You may try gathering other objects around the house to practice counting and putting the objects into groups of ten.
Today you can count the family members and pets in your home. Plan out who is the smallest, then the next biggest, and so on. Draw your family members and pets and place them in order from smallest to biggest in your drawing.
Today you can go on a scavenger hunt and find one grocery item that Begins or Ends with each letter/sound for example: K Kool Aid, A Apples, T Carrot, E Eggs and find as many as you can. CHALLENGE: Can you place the items from shortest to tallest use height to measure the items. Have Fun
Today, you can continue to play this math game with an egg carton, using a marker or pen randomly number the egg cups in an egg carton from 1 to 12. Put a button, marble or another small object int he carton and close the lid. Have your child shake the carton, open the lid, and identify the number the piece landed on. Challenge: Have your child write the number and draw a set of objects to match the number.
Parents you may Discuss: any Community Helper such as a Doctor or Nurse Vocabulary words - What beginning letter sound do you hear in the word Doctor /D/ or Nurse /N/

How many letter D's can you find on a cereal box or other food package? CHALLENGE: Find all the letters in the word Doctor on your cereal box or other food package.
You can also help your child combine two smaller words to make a compound word when you say "blend these two words together to make one word what is the new word" rain bow, rainbow, how about cup cake what is the new word cupcake, how about super man, superman, how about dog house, doghouse. You may think of others to try and see how many you can guess throughout the day.
You canuse the mini book or you can also try to draw a doctor/nurse using your shapes (triangles, circles, and ovals) then tell your family about your favorite community helper.
For another fun way to write: Fill the bottom of a cookie sheet with flour or shaving cream and practice writing the letters in their first/last name, and/or numbers, or just have fun drawing the shape of a cookie or cookies (how many?)
10:00 - Outdoor activities, jumprope, balls, chalk, and or blocks/nature-science explore a garden/ use water to water a plant/flower or anything that you see growing. Explore: Identify what you see. Collect rocks, leaves, or plants (Look at the sizes, shapes, and colors of each) and display them.
