August 2020

Welcome to Mrs. Davenport’s 4th grade class!  I look forward to working with you this school year, as together we concentrate on meeting  the challenges that lie ahead in Math and Science.

I am very excited to be starting my sixth year at WHE!  I feel very lucky to be part of such a special school.  Prior to coming to teach here, I taught at various schools in Marion County, including 5th grade at Madison Street Academy, and 6th,7th, and 8th grade at Osceola Middle School, so I will be able to help you to develop the skills that you will need to make a successful transition to what lies ahead in your education!

I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in South Florida, where I lived for many years. After moving to Ocala, I worked very hard on furthering my education. I achieved highly qualified teaching status by completing Reading Endorsement and ESOL Certification programs to go along with my Kindergarten through 6th Grade Certification.  In the past, I have been the 4th grade STEM lead teacher, so I try hard to keep up with the best and latest strategies for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in our district.  I love to learn and I love to teach, so I try to take as many classes as I can to help me do both!

I have a son who attended the College of Central Florida and a daughter who graduated from the University of South Florida.  My husband and I will celebrate our 37th Anniversary next month.  We like to spend time boating, fishing, following our kids’ activities, and walking our Golden Retriever, Ginger.

I am looking forward to a terrific year in our class.  I expect all of my students to do their best at all times; this includes completing all assigned class work and extension activities, participation in class activities, and following classroom and school-wide rules for behavior.

Please feel free to contact me at 671-6810 between 7:15-7:35a.m. or 2:10-3:00p.m. My email address is  I check email periodically throughout the day, and that is probably the best way to reach me. Mrs. Newbold and I will also be using the Remind App to keep in touch with families, please sign up for that as soon as possible.

I am really looking forward to getting to know all of my students and their families!  I am excited to have the opportunity to share my passion for teaching and the joy of learning with you this year.
