Sign up for the 201'8' Reading Challenge! See the linked instructions, join the Google Classroom, and get reading!
Enjoy eight books beween now and April 30th, fill out the corresponding reflections in the Google Classroom and submit your completed form to the library.
Book Chats!

The Media Center is hosting bookchats this year to promote literacy and conversation!
Sign ups take place in the library. Students receive a free copy of the book, time to read, then meet with their peers and the sponsoring teacher over a catered lunch to chat about the book.
This year’s bookchats are:
Making of a Navy Seal with Mr. Langemayr (December)
Red Queen with Ms. Kistler (January)
Milk and Honey with Ms. Torres (February)
Someone Like Me with Mr. Miller (March)
Wonder with Mrs. Major (April)
The Hate U Give with Mrs. Wilson (May)

College Board & Khan Academy
Need help creating an account on the CollegeBoard website? You'll need one to sign up for SAT, view your PSAT scores, and link your scores to activities in Khan Academy. The link below will help you setup College Board as well as Khan Academy accounts. When you're finished, link them together to get tailored support activities in Khan Academy.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of our library and its staff is to provide resources which will support and enhance the total curriculum. The library media specialist is a certified teacher and library information specialist who instructs and assists students and faculty who visit the Library Media Center in their quest for information.STAFF

POLICIES
- Student may check out five books for up to three weeks.
- Items can be renewed.
- Overdue items are charged five cents ($.05) per day / per item.
- MCPS Acceptable Use Policy must be on file for Internet access.
- All Internet access must be for a teacher assignment.
- Students can use a flash drive, Sky Drive, or Google Drive to save their work.
- No food or beverages permitted.
- Printing and copying is $.10 per page.

Destiny
Destiny is the library media center catalog. Not only is it available at your school computer, but now teachers and students can log in and access it from home to check out the West Port collection! After you login to West Port's card catalog, you'll have access to all the usernames and passwords for the many eBook database collections.WorldBook Online
Need another great resource to use for research? Use the WorldBook Encyclopedia online! See one of the library staff for the username and password to use at home.
Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)
The Purdue Online Writing Lab offers over 200 free resources for students including writing, research, grammar and mechanics, and style guides for both APA and MLA.
Florida Teens READ
The Florida Association for Media in Education has a young adult reading award for students in grades 9-12, Florida Teens Read. The mission of the program is to encourage Florida teens to read enjoyable, quality literature. Check out this special collection in the front of your media center.
