These are certainly unprecentented times for us as a nation as well as a school!  While my heart aches for my seniors who are anxious and concerned about what is happening around us means for their senior year; I am holding onto hope that the protocols we have in place now will allow us to resume our school year in the coming weeks.  Regardless of what happens however, I am confident that we will get through this.  And, regardless of all the uncertainly around us, my students can be certain that I will continue to be here for each of them if and when they need me, cheering them on, encouraring them and wishing the best for them.

Please do not hestiate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about assignments and grading relating to Economics at Debra.Bernardo@marion.k12.fl.us . Mrs. Bernardo

Hello! My name is Debbie Bernardo and I'm excited to be back here at Vanguard for the 2019-20 school year!  I have 22 years of experience having kids and loving on them with two of those years officially spent teaching in a classroom!!  I was coming into a new season of life with all three of my children either graduated or almost graduated and I wasn't certain if I wanted to go back to what I did in my "previous life" (i.e. before kids) which was Private Banking, or follow a buried desire to be a teacher.  So, in my youngest daughter's senior year of high school, I thought it would be a good idea to get a preview of teaching to see if it was really the direction in which I wanted to go, so I signed up to be a substitute teacher.  I went from "testing the waters" to being thrown in the proverbial deep end, got soaking wet, loved every minute of it and came back for more!

This year, I will teaching Economics and most, if not all of my students, will be Seniors.   I look forward to journeying with each of my students, individually and collectively, through their Senior year experiences!

My door is always open and I welcome and encourage input and feedback from students and parents alike.
