• Welcome to DISTANCE LEARNING in Mrs. Winkler's 2nd Grade Class!

Welcome to our LAST week of learning for this school year!   Please see the Assignments for May 25-29 for more information!!!

On Wednesday, June 3, we will be collecting Chromebooks, library books and recorders (Music class) from 9:30-11:30 in the CAR LINE.

    · Parents will drive up through the car line to return these items.

Summer Enrichment for any elementary student comes in the form of online learning this year. Themed “Adventure Awaits,” students and their families will embark on a new online adventure each week, June 15-July 9, including the exploration of outer space, diving deep into the world’s oceans, telling stories with castles and dragons, and experiencing the great outdoors. These online opportunities include activities for grades K-2 and 3-5 students with downloadable options for families to utilize at home. Materials packets will be available at each school while supplies last. For more information, “look for the book” at www.marionschools.net and click it to reach the “Community Reads” website.

I do not have any information yet about WHEN the material packets will be available at each school, but I wanted to let you know about this opportunity which begins on June 15.

There is now a “parent tech hotline” at (325) 867-2100 from 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM.

This hotline will assist you with mobile devices and programs.

Assignments for each week will be posted no later than Monday morning of each week.

Please be sure to read the "Announcements" section of this website.  It is my "Letter to Parents" section that gives you updates.

We will have our next ZOOM meeting this Tuesday, May 19 at 1 PM.  I will send parents an email with this information and also post it in my Google Classroom.    I look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces!  We are all in this together!

Your child should be doing his or her assignments and a conversation question in Google Classroom each school day.  If you have not visited there yet, you can find your Google Classroom tile under "Google apps" at the bottom of your Student Portal home page.

After you have joined the class,  please have your child type in his/her answer to the Sanford Harmony question in Google Classroom EVERY DAY Monday through Friday.  This is one of the ways I will know your child is in attendance for school that day.   I have also invited some of our administrators and teachers to be teachers in our Google Classroom, so you might occasionally see a post or a message from one of them in our Google Classroom.  All of our ASSIGNMENTS are still on THIS teacher website.   Please see the sidebar "Assignments for ____ ".  I also have left the previous weeks' assignments listed so you can find the assignments you might still be working on.   I will still accept the work, even if it is late, as some students have had trouble connecting to the internet.

IN ADDITION, go the CLASSWORK on the top tab in Google Classroom to find your student's assignments for each week beginning April 27.  Please send me any questions you have to my email tracey.winkler@marion.k12.fl.us

Assignments will be due every Friday. Your child will have 5 days to complete their assignments from Monday to Friday.  (I do accept assignments late, but all assignments must be completed by Friday, May 29).  If you submit assignments late online in a place other than Google classroom, please email to let me know so I can go back into those assignments in StemScopes or Studies Weekly to look for your child's work.

Some of the assignments for the students will be accessible through their Marion County Portal by using their username and password to sign into their portal.  Each student should already have their username and password as it is the same as they have been using all year to log into i-Ready, MyOn, Studies Weekly, Think Central and StemScopes.   Each week your child will have at least 3 or more ELA Reading and Writing assignments, 3 or more Math assignments, 1 or more Science assignments, and 1 or more Social Studies assignments.   Also each week your child will need to complete 45 minutes of i-Ready Math, and 45 minutes of i-Ready Reading.   He/she should also read 20 minutes or more each day.

Read the list of assignments on this teacher webpage (see sidebar "Assignments" and look for this week's date) to know which programs on the portal your child should be accessing this week.   The specific assignments are now listed in Google Classroom.

Each week your child will have one Special Area Assignment: Music, Art, or PE.   There is a different order for each grade level.    Our rotation (for 2nd and 3rd grades) is to do the Music assignment the week of April 1-3, the Art assignment the week of April 6-10, the PE assignment the week of April 13-17, and then repeat the cycle, so April 20-24 will be another Music assignment, April 27- May 1 will be Art, May 4-8 is PE, May 11-15 is Music, May 18-22 is Art, and May 25-29 is PE.

My "office hours" when I actively check email, and make phone calls as needed are from 10-11 AM, and 1-2 PM.   Please send me an email with any questions you have and I will reply as soon as I can.  My email address is tracey.winkler@marion.k12.fl.us   I am instructed to block my phone number when calling from home, so if you receive a call that says, "Private number", it might be me trying to call you.

Marion County Public Schools may record online classroom sessions utilizing third-party platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).  These recordings will only be used for educational purposes and may be shared on other learning platforms.  If you do not want your child’s image or identifying information recorded, utilize your device/platform controls to stop the camera feed from your device.
