    Hammett Bowen, Jr. Elementary

Welcome to Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary School's website. Our students, staff, and parents work as a team to assure that our students are successful. We will continue to strive for excellence. Our vision at Hammett Bowen is to provide an educationally rich environment where each individual of the school is valued, respected, and encouraged to reach his/her fullest potential as a productive citizen.

At Hammett Bowen, our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment that embraces the cultural and educational diversity of students and staff; while promoting an environment where learning is valued, nurtured, and where stakeholders are motivated to do their personal best. Self-discipline and high expectations will be reflected in all aspects of the school community; in behavior, student work, and meaningful relationships that are built between students, families, and the staff. Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary is a model for a strong school and community program dedicated to educating the whole child.

     School Safety

Hammett Bowen Elementary School is concerned about safety - bus safety, parking lot safety, playground safety, grounds safety, and personal safety. Please don't be offended if we ask you to park in a different location, walk inside the crosswalk, or show a picture ID when picking up a child. We all have to show our children we are concerned about safety issues.

Additionally, parents are not allowed to walk their children to class in the morning or pick them up at the classroom at the end of the school day. Walkers who are met by parents are to be picked up at the west side of the school on the sidewalk area and must have a school issued card with them in order to get their child. Parents must remain in the car line with a school-issued pick-up card visible through their front windshield. These cards are available at the front desk.

Parents, this is just a reminder that students can arrive at 7:20 AM. We are serving breakfast until 7:40 AM. Those who arrive after that will not be able to eat breakfast, so please be on time. Students who are car riders in the afternoon need to be picked up no later than 2:30 PM. Thank you again for your assistance.

The cafeteria serves a breakfast and a hot lunch every day using a computer system to track disbursement of meals.

    • Breakfast is free for all students
    • Lunch is free for all students
    • Extra Milk = $0.25
    • Extra Juice (20 oz.) = $0.25
    • Yoohoo and Gatorade= $0.75

***Notice to Parents and Guardians*** Please be aware of our SAFETY PROCEDURES concerning signing in on campus. We use a computer system in the front office to enter your name and identify why you are here on campus. This system will automatically print out a name badge for you, so please allow for extra time signing in. Also, remember to check out on the computer system. This allows us to keep a record of volunteer hours. If you are coming for a special event during the school day, please allow for extra time for checking in. Thank you for your patience!
