    School-wide Title 1 School

Our motto this year is “Stronger Together”

    Dear Parents,

As we embark on the new 2015-2016 school year I am excited that we have the privilege to teach your child. We have some of the finest teachers in Marion County who are very dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students. We are all working to ensure that your child has the opportunity for the best education possible.

Our theme this year is “Stronger Together” and we believe that you are a very important part of this team that is working together to provide a strong education. We cannot do all that needs to be done this year without your support. I know you will encourage your child to always give their best academically and be on their best behavior.

Communication is a key element of a successful school so we have several means that we will be utilizing to keep you up to date on your student and Greenway Elementary. Our monthly newsletter, The Gazette, will come home the first of each month. It will include upcoming happenings as well as highlight student success. We will continue to use the District’s free SchoolWay app to keep you informed of school updates. The District will also be using this app for communication. SchoolWay can be downloaded on all devices as a free app. We will keep our school website current and you will find important information there as well.

Students in grades 2 – 5 will have planners which will include the student handbook. The handbook will also be located on the website. Please take time to read through the handbook to find the policies regarding behavior, dress code, attendance, etc. Copies of the handbook will be provided to VPK, kindergarten and 1st graders.

Traffic will be quite an experience the first 3 weeks of school. Please be patient and allow plenty of time to get through the car line – both in the morning and afternoon. We will have first time students unfamiliar with the process, lagging to get out of vehicles in the morning and not understanding the process to get at the right gate for dismissal. We will have extra staff on hand to assist during this busy time of year. You may see the attached pick up and dismissal procedures on the website.

We are excited to see your child on Monday, August 17th.
